Giraffe Manor is an exclusive boutique hotel, owned by The Safari Collection. Often referred to as one of the most instagrammed properties in the world, Giraffe Manor is set in 12 acres of private land within 140 acres of indigenous forest in the Langata suburb of Nairobi. Giraffe Manor is one of Nairobi’s most iconic buildings. The historic manor house has extraordinary appeal, that harks back to the 1930s when visitors first flocked to East Africa to enjoy safaris. With its stately façade, elegant interior, verdant green gardens, sunny terraces and delightful courtyards, guests often remark that it’s like walking into the film Out of Africa: indeed, one of its twelve rooms is named after the author Karen Blixen.
One of the most fascinating things about Giraffe Manor is its resident herd of Rothschild’s giraffes who may visit morning and evening, poking their long necks into the windows in the hope of a treat, before retreating to their forest sanctuary. Overview
Loldia House is an original Kenyan home set on an old farm on the shores of Lake Naivasha. Here guests can enjoy a gentle pace of life; relax by the pool, take in the views, head off on a game drive or indulge in a variety of treatments from our poolside spa room.
Loldia House offers a choice of accommodation either in the old family house or in cottages in the grounds. In the main house, there is one en-suite double room. Close by are three other guest cottages (each housing two separate rooms, all en-suite), surrounded by pretty gardens and offering incredible views across the lake to the extinct volcano, Mount Longonot. Up on the hill is the specially built Top Cottage, which has three double bedrooms and its own sitting room with an open log fire, making it ideal for families or close friends travelling together. The vista from up here is stupendous!
Head off to Loldia House on the shores of Lake Naivasha. Explore the lakes and mountains around this private 6500-acre farm and see rhino at nearby Lake Nakuru. Lake Naivasha derives its name from the Maasai word for ‘rough water’ due to the sudden storms that are known to arise in the area. Easily accessible from Nairobi, the lake is a refreshing day trip or weekend break from Kenya’s busy capital. With a surface area of 139km², Lake Naivasha dominates the landscape, and it is surrounded by a swamp which covers an area of around 64km². Beyond the swampland, the lake is encircled by forests of the fever tree.

Overview
Set on a private conservancy, Governors’ Mugie House offers a myriad of activities by which to explore and enjoy Laikipia’s vast open landscapes and rare northern rangeland species. The location is Mugie Conservancy, a private wildlife conservancy in Laikipia of almost 50’000 acres hosting an array of impactful community and conservation programs.
Perched on a hill are eight stone cottages, each with sweeping views of the Laikipia landscape. A large main house with open log fires hosts guests for relaxing cocktails and scrumptious meals, prepared from a creative menu with ingredients sourced from our own vegetable garden. An infinity pool offers lovely shaded areas and a casual alfresco dining area, while a waterhole set in front of Mugie House attracts a variety of wildlife that comes to drink. Guests can also make the most of Mugie Conservancy’s nine-hole golf course, which is perfect for enjoying a round between travel companions or alongside other golf-loving guests of ours.
Mugie Conservancy provides a key wildlife access route between the Laikipia plateau, the Mathews Range and the Samburu lands to the north and east. Vast acacia-dotted savannahs, olive forests and scrubby bush are a haven to a multitude of wildlife in plentiful numbers, including key endemic northern Kenyan species such as Grevy’s zebra, Jackson’s hartebeest and reticulated giraffe.
Travel by road to Laikipia in northern Kenya . Discover the 40,000-acre Mugie Conservancy – spot rare wildlife, track lions with rangers, head out with the anti-poaching unit (bloodhounds and their handlers) and see the excellent community cattle grazing programme. With its open savannah, dotted with iconic acacia trees, scrubby bush and olive tree forests stretching to the foothills of the Larogi plateau, Mugie is diverse and home to some of the threatened and endangered keystone species, whose numbers have declined to critical levels due to poaching and habitat loss.
Mugie Conservancy provides a haven for animals, birds, and plant life. Grevy’s zebra, Jackson’s hartebeest, (which are endemic to the area), big cats, buffalo, elephants, reticulated giraffe, storks, and birds of prey, are just a few of the wonderful creatures that roam Mugie’s plains and forests. Overview
Governors’ Camp is Africa’s first permanent tented camp, remaining in its original site since 1972. Governors’ Camp occupies the best wildlife viewing location in the Reserve, nestled in the riverine forest along the winding banks of the Mara River, its waters teeming with bird-life, hippo and crocodile. It is perfect for couples, families and friends wanting to experience the best of what a safari in the Masai Mara has to offer.
The entire camp is under canvas with all of the comforts of a luxury hotel. Some of the 30 tents line the riverbank, tucked into the forest they enjoy uninterrupted views over the Mara River, others have views across the sweeping plains of the Masai Mara. The tents are big, bright and allow in lots of natural light. All tents are classic safari style each with en-suite bathrooms and a private verandah. There is a bar tent with a deck overlooking the Mara River and a dining tent with amazing views over the plains.
Governors’ Camp has been awarded a Silver Eco Rating from Eco – Tourism Kenya due to our sustainable tourism practices in place in camp.
Fly by light aircraft to an exceptionally wildlife-rich corner of the Maasai Mara. Head out on game drives to spot big cats with expert guides who know the local lions of the marsh pride by name. The Maasai Mara is what safari dreams are made of. The most famous reserve in the world has rolling grasslands and wide open savannah where big cats and the Big Five roam. This is the place to see the incredible annual wildebeest migration between June and October – as over a million animals thunder across the plains in search of water and grazing – but the Mara has mass appeal all year-round. A magical hot-air balloon safari is a must; gently drift over the plains at sunrise as wildlife roams below you. Stay: 3 nights at Governor's Camp
Over the next two days, intersect the boundless plains by safari vehicle. The Maasai Mara, an essential part of the greater Serengeti ecosystem, hosts the annual wildebeest migration. Never short on thrills, this quintessential landscape of rolling grasslands and acacia savannas hosts the largest lion population, as well as zebras, spotted hyenas, black-backed jackals, hippos, giraffes, elands and wildebeest. You may pay a private visit to a Maasai village to learn about local customs and daily life.
Day 10: Depart, Fly Nairobi
After an early breakfast, you’ll you will be transferred to the local airstrip for your maiden air transfer to Nairobi. You will arrive in time for a late lunch and thereafter transfer to the airport for your return flight home. Here, we will wave a fond farewell to you and your family as your once-in-a-lifetime Kenyan safari comes to an end.
